What is you passion? This question has plagued me for ages. Until recently, anytime I have pondered this thought I’ve put a damper on what my heart has screamed (WRITING) and tried to replace my feelings with logical thoughts. I’ve always tried to substitute my inner feelings with things that might make me “successful” in eyes of others.
Good grades came first. Then came my possible choice of a nursing career and then medical school aspirations, soon to be substituted for a desire to go to law school.
All of these things were chosen because of a minor interest on my part combined with the lure of possible prestige.
After years of failures, lack of true interest, and disappointment … I’m FINALLY coming around to my true passion.
You guessed it. Writing.
Yes, I know I’m not the best at it. However, with improvement, I know I will be happy with my new career aspiration. And finally I have realized that happiness is the greatest blessing in life.
So, what is your passion?
Whatever it may be find a way to follow it and happiness will soon follow! Trust me! I’ve barely started sharing my writing, am making zero money of if it, and already I feel the happiness starting to trickle through.
Give you’re aspirations a moment of true heartfelt thought and share them in the comments below or tweet me to share @asksamany. I always love to hear what others have to say!
As always, thanks so much for reading!
By some delightful coincidence you have managed land yourself on this webpage. Now you’re probably wondering “What is Ask Sam Anything?”. Well, my dear reader, that is a wonderful question and also one that I am still trying to answer for myself. Here is what I know so far:
It all started when I was growing up in small town America. For years and years I had this strange desire to create some sort of advice column for my school, but I was far too shy to put myself and my writing out there for the world to see. Also, I think that middle school me realized on some level that no one really wanted a preteens advice on anything except which lip gloss had the most sparkle. So I did my best to squelch the desire.
My childhood is also when I discovered my first love. Writing. While I know that I am not the best writer (or speller) out there, I enjoy it greatly and would love to use it as a way to communicate with the world.
One day recently I woke up and realized that I am now 20-something fairly successful young woman with some life experience and several psychology and developmental classes in her back pocket. Although I know these things don’t technically qualify me in any way to be handing out advice, I still want to attempt to merge my childhood dream of having an advice column with my love for writing and newfound confidence.
Hopefully with time you, my readers, will help me create an online community where people can come for advice, support, and inspiration.
If you are in need of some helpful words please feel free to tweet me @AskSamAny, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or leave a comment below for a chance at being featured in my first Ask Sam column! In the meantime I’ll be posting general advice, and things that I think just might brighten everyone’s day.
Thanks for reading!
